Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The court says a divorce agreement must state that both spouses agree to end the marriage, along with the agreed terms. Without that statement the court cannot accept the agreement. We type in the terms you give us.

Agreed orders go on court forms attached to the judgment: FL-341 for custody and parenting time, FL-342 for child support, FL-343 for spousal, partner, or family support, and FL-345 for property. We prepare the ones you direct us to prepare.

The court says a judge approves a child support agreement only if the court knows the guideline amount, even when the parents agree to a different amount. We prepare the forms at your direction and cannot say what amount is right for you.

The court warns that agreements about property are very hard to change. It suggests getting a lawyer's advice when the agreement involves selling a home or dividing retirement. Write Legal cannot give that advice, so please read the agreement carefully before you sign.

The court says that if a spouse did not file a response, their signature on the agreement must be notarized. Notaries often charge a small fee per signature. Whether your agreement needs this depends on how the case is proceeding in your court.
